About Smart Money Answers

Straightforward money help for real life in the UK — no jargon, no hard sell, no hidden agenda.

Why we exist

Money is one of the biggest sources of stress for UK households — yet good, plain-English information can be surprisingly hard to find. Too much of what's out there is either buried in jargon, out of date, or quietly trying to sell you something.

Smart Money Answers was created to fix that. We turn the questions UK savers actually search for into clear, practical guides you can act on — whether you want to save more, cut your tax bill, boost your pension, clear debt or start investing.

What we stand for

  • UK-focused. Every allowance, rate and rule is for the UK, and we note where Scotland differs.
  • Up to date. We review our key figures for each tax year — you're reading 2026/27 numbers.
  • Plain English. If your gran couldn't follow it, we've rewritten it.
  • Independent. We share information, not pressure. Where money is at stake, we point you to official sources and regulated advisers.

How we're funded

Our guides are free to read. To keep them that way, this site carries advertising (including Google AdSense) and may, in future, include affiliate links to products we think are relevant. Advertising never changes the advice we give — our guidance is written independently of who advertises with us.

An important note on advice

Smart Money Answers provides general information, not regulated financial advice. It can't take account of your personal circumstances. For decisions that really matter — pensions, investments, mortgages, debt problems — please use official resources like GOV.UK and MoneyHelper, and consider speaking to a qualified, FCA-regulated professional.
